Things Keep Tickin' On
Wotcha.
Thought it was about time for another installment in the G Proj Blog. Not that there's a lot going on at the moment, but you know - I don't want you to feel that we're neglecting you. First things first - thanks to everyone that's come and shaken their thang at our shows - Boscombe Community Fair was a right old laff (and there's some photos of our on-stage exploits on The Genaro Project.com!); and Charlie and Rachel's wedding was giggle-tastic, too. Although I may have had a little too much to drink. It's difficult to say "no" when you're the only one in the band drinking, and people keep coming up and bringing 4 beers "for the band". What's a girl to do?!
In terms of what's coming up - well - we've actually only got one gig planned in the near future, and that's a private party (another wedding! Woohoo - we're a wedding band!) - but keep your eyes peeled for other gig dates, cos there are bound to be some. And probably at pretty short notice if the last couple of years are anything to go by.
Incidentally - if you haven't yet visited our luvverly new website, click the link above, cos it's packed full of music and videos and pictures and silly stuff. You'll love it. Trust me. And on the subject of 'links', we've just started a group on Facebook. The link's here: G Proj Facebook Group. According to a lovely chap on the solidair website, "One day we'll all be robots and facebook will be our king....." so we thought we'd get a piece of the action. Feel free to join up, post piccies/videos/whatever. And leave comments.
Yeeeeeeeeah.
Anyway, I'd better go and get ready for another day down the mine. Coal doesn't dig itself, you know...

Big news for y'all!
Hellooooo!
Hope you've all been fine and dandy. It just dawned on me quite how long it's been since we updated our blog ("freakin' ages", if you were wondering).
Well, we've got some spankingly great news to update you with, so I thought we'd get that done now...
WE'VE GOT A WEBSITE! YAY!
That's right - it's lovely, lovely place, laden with videos, and loads of music and pretty pictures, and links - well - everything you could possibly want (including 'The Si Genaro Video Game'!). How cool is THAT?!
All you need to do is click on www.thegenaroproject.com for all the G Projjy goodness you could ever hope for. It's constantly being updated, too - so keep checking back, cos there's still more tunes and videos to go on there... (Hopefully we should have the videos of our sets at the recent Sundial Festival on there pretty soon!).
If you've got any suggestions about what you'd like to see on there, do let us know, cos we'd love to hear them.
And remember, drive safely, children!

Details of the Comeback Spectacular and More!
Okay peeps, here's the lowdown - as you're probably already aware, our comeback special is on the 2nd March at the Portman. It's a Friday, so none of that "I've got work/school/prison/etc" stuff - you HAVE to be there. It won't cost you a penny to get in either, so that excuse won't work.
There's a flyer thingy, although due to lack of funds and a general laziness, we haven't actually printed any out - so it's a web-only jobbie. Have a gander here if you wanna. People have been asking what time it starts, and my usual answer is and kind of confused scooby-doo impression, meaning that I don't know. Let's say.... about eight thirtyish. K?
On the subject of gigs - we've got another couple of gigs coming up. The first is at Klute (posh wine-bar type place, I believe). It's on the 15th March, and we're playing with a band called 'Sonnet' (their myspazz thingy is here if you're interested). It'd be wicked if you could come down and sing along. It's not often that you get to see us in posh surroundings, so pop along and make the most of it...
AND - we're playing at the lovely Salisbury Arms in Christchurch. It might be a building, but it's still a got a myspace page - it's here. Which reminds me, my toaster has recently set up it's own myspace page, I can't remember the link, but I'll post it here when I remember. We'll be gracing their stage on the 24th March. I think that's a Thursday. Or one of the other days. Probably. Anyway - that's another 'free entry' gig (we don't charge you like most professional bands do - and you know us, they don't come much more professional! We had a practice this morning and everything!). And it's a bonus cos the Salisbury Arms is great. Come on down, get drunk and dance around like a loon.
That's pretty much all I've got to say. Bye-di-bye,
T'Other Simon

A Bit Like a Phoenix from the Flames. That's Us.
Indeed. We've risen again. You know the geezer that rose from the dead? Well that's us, that is! I thought I'd take a moment to update you on what going on with The Genaro Project. Well - Genaro's somehow managed to make it through customs so he's back in good old Blighty. We all expected him to come back a changed man - you know, wild blond hair, a hat with corks on it, and calling everyone 'galahs'. Well we were (mostly) wrong. He ain't changed a bit. In fact - in true form, he managed to miss the first band practice we planned to have. It's heart-warming to have the old Si G back!
So yeah - we've managed to get together for a couple of practices since his triumphant return, and you'll be pleased/annoyed (delete as appropriate) to hear that we've just started from exactly where we left off from. It was just like riding a bike. Only with more musical instruments. And no legal requirement to wear a helmet.
Of course, what this means is that we'll be gigging again soon - and we plan to whore ourselves like nobody's business in 2007. We'll be on 'Top of the Pops' by the summer, mark my words! (What do you mean it's been axed?! Well - maybe we'll be on 'Richard and Judy' or something, instead)
Ah yes - and I just read back through the last entry in the blog - there was that mysterious news, wasn't there? Well that was that we played a couple of gigs with the delightful James Harrison over Christmas. We had big plans for them, but due to lack of time and the usual G Proj lack of preparation they were a little bit...terrible. Not to worry - fortunately I forgot to advertise them anyway, so everyone's happy, right? Exactly...
Admittedly it's a bit late to be filling you in on that kinda thing- but there's nothing worse than someone telling you they've got big news, and then never telling you, is there? Quite.
On the subject of big news - it's not strictly related to the Genaro Project - but I'm getting married. Yay for me! Oh, and the missus, obviously. That'll make Percy my brother-in-law - which is a bit odd. But then we'll be one of those bands where some of the members are related. Like Oasis or Radiohead, or The Nolans, or something. Cooooool.
I've said it a million times (give or take 20 or so); but we're planning to finish off our recordings soon. And then we'll hastily throw together some shoddy artwork, get 'em all put on to CDs, and then...well.... we'll probably sell 'em to you lot or something, I guess. We hadn't planned that far ahead. Still - it's good news, innit?
And finally - just to make things go full circle - I should remind you that we're rehearsing again. So soon, very soon, we'll have our comeback special. It's gonna be bloody beautiful - that's a promise. Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements...
Come on now - group hug....mmmmmmmmmm......

Just For You Lot...
Well - Si G. may be living it up down under, but that doesn't stop us attempting to whore ourselves a bit. I've just added a couple of videos to our page, and changed the wallpaper - that damp looking one used to make me feel a bit queasy. This one is, according to our buddy Nina, 'a bit more in touch with our feminine side'. I dunno about that, but I like it.
We've also just joined 'social networking' site MTV Flux cos we read that it was the 'cool' thing to do, and you know how fashion-conscious we all are. If you also happen to be a member and wanna make us one of your 'friends' - our user name is thegenaroproject. And then you can come and vote for our videos and stuff, and we'll get on MTV and be rich. Rich, I tells ya!
Also - we'll have some interesting news coming up soon, regarding the remaining members of the G Proj (those that decided to brave the British winter nights). It's not all finalised yet, but it's gonna be groovy - believe me...
And that, my dear friends, is about all I've got to say;
Adios amigos and amigas!

...Have A KitKat
Warning - You might want to sit down before you read this....
(Who uses a computer standing up?!)
Okay...here goes.... (deep breath)....
As you may (or may not) have heard - the Genaro Project are taking a little break. The gig we played on Saturday night is likely to be the last gig of ours until January 2007 at the earliest. We're not splitting up or anything like that (unless you call having a singer/guitarist in another hemisphere 'splitting up' and I think that's a wee bit pessimistic, don't you?!) Si's taking an extended holiday down under with the lovely Laura, and we thought that 'The...Project' is a shite name for a band. So we're giving it a rest for a bit.
We understand that you're likely to be traumatised by this news, so we've set up a special premium rate phone line for the more distressed amongst you. Just dial 0891 505050 and ask for Busty Bertha. She'll sort you out.
In the meantime, we'll still be regularly checking the site, and checking out the local music scene; so feel free to drop us a message or whatever. We might be takin' a break, but it's still nice to feel wanted....
Also - when the time comes, we're likely to have a sensational comeback gig. Like the Elvis '68 Comeback Special. Only with less leather. And more reggae... (reggae Elvis? Now there's an idea...!) Anyway - what I'm saying is, do keep checking back here for updates - cos there ARE likely to be some. We might even be able to post some videos, and some (unfinished) demo tracks that we recorded, ooh, 14 years ago. <<<(possible exaggeration).
Oh, and on the subject of photos (I wasn't, but I am now) - we've posted some more on our PhotoBucket page (the link's on our homepage). It includes the 'last gig'TM, including Dave wearing children's clothing, me wearing ladies clothing, Si wearing a fez, and Percy modelling RoboLeg2000. So that's worth a gander. Or a Metropole. <<< That's a Bournemouth musician's 'in joke'. Oh - and I've added the scrolly-scrolly-picture thing on our mainpage, so you can get a brief (although slightly fuzzy) look at some of the piccies on our photo page. Aren't I clever?
And with that question ringing in your ears (or eyes), I'll bid you farewell.
Take care of yourselves. No-one else is gonna take care of you.

New Stuff. Lots of Lovely New Stuff.
Well, well, well... Here we are, once again. Another summer's day, another new blog. Don't worry though, my sweet, this is only gonna be pretty quick - I just wanted to say 'well done' to me, for managing to upload three new songs on our page. Go check em out! They're all recorded at the same gig, which is great sound-quality wise, if a little ropey performance-wise (some may say Leon's black absinthe is to blame). You can hear the G Proj in full stereophonic surround sound - with Dolby, for a complete audio experience!(tm). Alright, so I'm telling porkies about that bit, but I think they sound pretty sexy. Let us know what you reckon...
And that's not all - oh no - we've uploaded a bunch of new photos to our online photo gallery (which you can visit 'ere). There are some particularly good ones of Si G in a dress, and Dave dressed as the devil. Horn-tastic!
Once you've heard the new tunes and seen the new piccies you're sure to want to let us know just how fab we are (or not!) - and there are about 17,043 different ways you can do it. You could either send us a comment on our MySpace page (you know - the one you're looking at, duh!); send us an email (thegenaroproject@hotmail.co.uk, since you're asking); or, most fantabulously of all... join up to our massage board - sorry - message board and post an ickle comment. That would please us immensely. Oh yes it would. So don't beat around the bush (fnar fnar!), click THIS and start posting stuff. NOW DAMMIT!
Hugs and kisses,
T'Other Simon
p.s. Thanks to all those that came and cheered and shook their bootys at our acoustic gig the other night. It was the first time we've ever played like that and it was a bit mental! Oh, and for those of you who asked me - you can buy that t-shirt here. But please don't. Bless ya!

Straight Outta Compton (Acres)
Word to your mothers!
Yes! It's us again! Just thought I'd give you all the latest lowdown in 'Genaro Project-ville'*.
Summer is upon us, and very nice it is too. It's seems wrong to buy a strawberry Mivvi at any other time of year. We've had a series of gigs recently, and I'd like to say "Cheers me dears!" to those of you that came along and shook your booty. Or stood at the bar tutting. It's all good. We've given away nearly all the badges we had, so apologies to those of you that missed out, and a word of advice to those that got one - Sell them on eBay, you're sure to make a fortune. I heard one went on there recently for nearly a quid. But it might have been a lie.
We had a great time at the Earthwise Festival a couple of weeks ago - we played on the Friday night on the Youth Stage (thanks to Laura! - Ta!), and that was amazing. Then we played on the Saturday on the Main Stage AKA 'Henry's Beard stage'. That was a good giggle, too. (Especially a rousing chorus of "Henry's Beard! Henry's Beard! Isn't it weird? Henry's Beard!"). Then - to top things off - we did our first ever acoustic gig on the Sunday. Thing is, Dave (drum-hitter) had to go home and polish his collection of Religious brass ornaments. Which left us drummer-less.
That was until a hero stepped into our midst....
A little fella known only as 'Alfie' jumped on board the Good Ship Genaro to provide us with sturdy beats. Pretty good considering he'd never heard most of the songs. Here's the hero of the hour:
Oh - and there's another thing I need to tell you - (nearly forgot!)
We're playing at 'Fish Seeks Bicycle' at the Opera House in Boscombe on Saturday 24th June. All the details are here:
http://www.fishseeksbicycle.com/
It's going to be mad. Completely mad. It's fancy dress, too - so expect to see at least one of us dressed as a girlie girl girl (any excuse, eh?!)
Details of where to get ticket are on the site (I'm not doing EVERYTHING for you! Jesus!). We'd love to see you there - so come along and enjoy all that's on offer!
And finally (in a Trevor MacDonald stylee) -
If you're cool, like us, you'll be into the art of David Shrigley (http://www.davidshrigley.com/). He's a bit of a personal hero of mine ('me' being T'Other Simon, not any of the other scumbuckets in the band!). Well, he's designed a poster for us. I'm not going to spoil the surprise by posting a piccy of it here. But I like it. A lot.
Keep your peepers peeled for it.
And on that bombshell, I'm off to sell Craig Charles some more crack. Toodlepip!
*Not an actual place. I checked Google.

Come On In and Grab a Cocktail Sausage
Whew! Crack open the fizzy pop and pass me a Pringle! We're celebratin'! Over 1000 people have come and had a look this website! That's a whole load of folks all coming to gawk at the Genaro Project. OK, so I expect that some of them only came to contact Dave - after he placed that ad and all, but I'd like to think that the rest wanted to come and check out the groovy sounds that we make.
And perv over our pictures, obviously.
While I've got your attention, I suppose I ought mention that we've got a couple of gigs coming up - the first one is at Dylan's bar, at the University, on the 16th March (usual disclaimers apply - i.e. No, I don't know what time we're on, and no, I don't know if there's a charge on the door). The second gig is a bit of a special one - it's on the 18th March at the Green Room (Portman Hotel) in Boscombe and it's to celebrate Mr Percy's Birthday. And his sister's. And another friend of ours. Come along - there might be jelly and ice-cream. Or there might be a gig by the funktastic-est, rocking-est, eejits in the whole of Bournemouth. Either way - it's gonna be grrreat!
See you soon!
